The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE) is a statewide organization covering state retirees and their beneficiaries, current state employees, and State Regulatory Agencies retirees. PARSE was established in 1973. Currently, there are thousands of members in 29 functioning chapters with many members who reside throughout the United States

Our Goals

  1. To continuously request cost-of-living-adjustments (COLA) so that retirees can maintain their standard of living despite inflation.
  2. To protect health benefits for all members which are subject to change.
  3. To provide information on all aspects of retirement.
  4. To provide a newsletter to all members.

Membership

Any person receiving pension payments from any state retirement system, whether an actual annuitant or the beneficiary of an annuitant may join PARSE.

Chapter Members: Those annuitants residing in a county in which a chapter of PARSE is functioning.

Members At Large: Those annuitants residing outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and those who do not wish to belong to a local chapter.

Associate Members:

  1. Any active Commonwealth employee may join PARSE, regardless of years of service.
  2. Spouses of active and deceased members.
  3. Retirees from the Independent State Regulatory Agencies.

(Associate members may vote and hold office within a local chapter.)

Additional Benefits

PARSE is continuously seeking new benefits for members. Preferred rates on Homeowners and Automotive insurance and free routine hearing tests with deeply discounted prices on hearing instruments are other benefits available to our membership. A dental/vision plan and a long-term nursing and/or home care plan is available with paid premiums. These plans are not provided directly by PARSE, but by outside insurance sources.
